Big Sister’s Free Tutoring Service

My name is Alice and I work for Big Sisters of BC Lower Mainland.

I’m reaching out to you today as we currently have an influx of volunteers for our Study Buddy program in the Surrey area. This is a FREE service for youth and families to provide tutoring to self-identifying girls between the ages 7-17 who are struggling academically.

We know the past year and a half has been difficult for youth academically, but we can support them. Our Study Buddy volunteers are also fantastic role models and support systems for their youth outside of the academic work. The sessions can be done in-person or virtual depending on the families comfort level.

Click on Study Buddy Program and please find attached the referral form.

If you have specific questions please feel free to reach out to me or Angie, our Study Buddy Team Lead at adube@bigsisters.bc.ca

Our referral forms and general overview about the Study Buddy program have been translated into a handful of the most common additional languages spoken by the parent/guardian. If that would assist with the referral process, please feel free to reach out to me. Please note, if the youth requires a mentor that speaks Mandarin or Cantonese, it will take us longer to match them in the program.

Please send completed referral forms back to me, so we can help support these youth to be matched with a Study Buddy tutor.

Thank you again for helping children and youth in our community reach their full potential!
