January Counsellor Update

January is an important time of year for students across the province. For those in semestered schools, courses will finish over the next few weeks, while students taking linear courses will find themselves midterm, and begin to have a clear idea of their progress.

At SAIL we register courses year-round, so our students will often be on unique course completion timelines that may be out of step with their peers taking courses in mainstream schools. This is why it is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT for students (especially those in Grade 12) to make certain they are aware of any university application and documentation deadlines. At UBC for example, interim grades representing 50% course completion must be available to UBC by March 15th. At SAIL, this means that students expecting to meet this deadline must be at the 50% completion point by the January report card (please review information about our timelines here). If you have any questions about your current course completion progress, please speak with your teacher. Of course, full time SAIL students can also book an appointment anytime with our counsellor Mr Sturn!
