Hello SAIL Students,
The Ministry of Education has announced that due to BC General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) strike action in the BC Public Service, the Graduation Assessment Session for November 3-7, 2025 will be cancelled for all grade 10 and 12 assessments. The next available session will be begin on January 12, 2026 and will be extended by an additional week, to January 30, to allow more time for a larger administration.
The Ministry has confirmed that early admission to post-secondary institutions in B.C. will not be impacted by the cancellation, as students are able to write the assessments in another session (January, April, or June) and submit their results when completed.
If you had signed up for the Literacy and Numeracy assessments for November and would like to still write the assessments for January, please email the SAIL Assessment Coordinator, Devon Gaumont, at gaumont_d@surreyschools.ca. Otherwise, the sign-up sheet for January will become available in December.
As part of your graduation requirements, students in the B.C. Graduation Program will complete three provincial assessments. These assessments focus on the demonstration and application of numeracy and literacy:
If you are a full -time student in the Compass program at SAIL and have not already completed these mandatory provincial assessments, you will be required to complete them at our location in the Resource Education Centre (REC) at 14123 92 Ave. Surrey, B.C. V3V 0C7.
You will have the option of completing the assessments during the following time periods throughout the year:
JANUARY 2026
Literacy 10 and 12: January 15th 9 am to 12 pm
Numeracy 10: January 16th 9 am to 12 pm
JUNE 2026
Literacy 10: June 17th 9 am to 12 pm
Numeracy 10: June 18th 9 am to 12 pm
Literacy 12: June 19th 9 am to 12 pm
Sign-up forms will be sent out later for the January and June sessions. You can always choose to write one assessment during one session and then another later in the year.
