Grade 10

Grade 10 Course Planning Information 2023-2024

To complete Grade 10, students will need the following courses:

English 10 (must take 2 courses, chosen from New Media 10, Creative Writing 10, Literary Studies 10, and Composition 10)

A Math 10 (Workplace Math 10 or Foundations & Pre-calculus 10)

Science 10

Socials Studies 10

PE 10

Career and Life Education (CLE) 10

An indigenous-focused course in grade 10, 11 or 12

For university-bound students, a second language is also required (French 10, Punjabi 10, or Spanish 10).

Additionally, students may wish to take an applied skills course with us this year to take care of that graduation requirement. Our options here include Foods 11, Foods 12, Photography 12, and Digital Media Development 12 (yes, these grade 11 & 12 courses can be taken while in grade 10!).

At SAIL, students are able to work at their own pace to complete their schooling on timelines that may be different than they would experience at a mainstream school. Please speak with our Grade 10 advisors (see below) to plan course and grade completion goals that work best for you!

Grade 10 students must also take the Grade 10 Literacy Assessment, and the Grade 10 Numeracy Assessment. English and Math teachers will have more information to share with students about these exams. Please contact Ms. Gaumont at gaumont_g@surreyschools.ca for more information about when you can write these exams.
