Course Timelines & Learning Updates
Students may start their courses at anytime and work to complete them based on their specific needs and timeline. SAIL provides 5 learning updates per year. If you wish to receive a final mark on a specific report card you can strive to meet the specific deadline for that report period. If you don’t meet your deadline, you can work towards the next one.

August learning update: SAIL does not offer a “Summer School” program; however, students are given the opportunity to receive a final grade on an August learning update if they complete their course by the end of July. Our August learning update will only report final marks for successfully completed courses and for students who have reached their 12 month deadline for course completion. Our August learning update does not report interim or “in progress” grades.
In order to receive a final grade on our August learning update all coursework must be completed by the July work submission deadline. There are NO EXTENSIONS granted for the August learning update. Please note that our courses have a 12 month completion deadline and are not remedial or shortened for the August learning update. If your target end date is the August learning update you are encouraged to register and start well before the end of June.

SAIL Teachers are not available for support during these times:
- August 5, 2024 until September 3, 2024
- December 21, 2024 to January 6, 2025
- March 15, 2025 to March 31, 2025
- August 7, 2025 to September 2, 2025
University Entrance Requirements and Online Courses
This is an important reminder for grade 11 and 12 students to be aware that some post-secondary schools may have unique deadlines that you must meet if you are taking online courses. These deadlines may include not only course completion deadlines, but also interim marks deadlines based upon 50% course completion. Students and parents should do their own research in order to determine these deadlines, and students need to make certain they are completing the necessary coursework to meet them.
SAIL has several learning updates throughout the school year: November, January, April, June and August. Students need to complete any course work required to meet university deadlines in time to have their marks reported on the preceding SAIL learning update.
